what happens when you get in touch.

You don’t need to know what’s wrong. Working that out is our first job.

1

make it safe

We take the site offline or put it behind a holding page, so customers stop seeing the problem and Google stops recording it.

2

find the way in

We go through the server logs and files to work out what happened and when. If we guessed, it would likely happen again.

3

clean and restore

We remove anything malicious, check the database and bring back a clean version of the site. If your backups are gone, we work with what’s on the server.

4

close the way in

We change the passwords, fix the weakness they used, lock the site down, and ask Google to review any warning so your listing recovers.

You’ve been hacked

Spam pages in Google’s results, a red warning screen, customers reporting redirects to somewhere else, or your host has suspended the account. We clean it up, restore it and close the way they got in.

The site is simply down

A white screen, a database error, an expired domain, a hosting bill nobody saw, or an update that broke it at two in the morning. We find the cause and get it back up, usually within hours.

how to tell if you’ve been hacked.

If two or more of these sound familiar, get in touch today rather than waiting to be sure.

  • Searching your business name shows pages you never wrote, often in another language.
  • The site redirects somewhere else, but only on a phone, or only for new visitors.
  • Your host emails about malware, resource usage, or suspends the account.
  • There are admin users you don’t recognise, or your own login has stopped working.
  • Customers say your emails are going to spam when they never used to.
  • Files in the site have a changed date nobody can explain.

Please don’t delete anything first. The evidence of how they got in is usually in the files you’d want to remove, and without it, it’s much harder to stop it happening again.

and we make sure it doesn’t happen again.

A rescue includes three months of Site Care, because a cleaned-up site with no updates or backups is likely to get hacked again. During those three months it’s on our hosting, backed up every night, updated weekly and monitored around the clock.

After that, you can stay on Care or take the site elsewhere with a full copy and every login in your name. Either is fine with us.

or send us the details.
